I have completed my last short film for awhile, since i was last on i have finished three, one 25 minute, and two 5 minute ones.

Unfortuneatly, the only super8people down here are students and "others" so it has been trying and lonely. But, i did it, built my own lights, dolly, et bloody all.

I have shot almost all in tri-x, with k40 here and there, the magic of small format is incredible in colour and detail! I am very happy with the film i have shot, with just the basics of understanding lighting etc, and trying to follow basic rules, i have survived without worrying about shutter angles, crystal synching, 24fps, 36fps, and countless hardware/software compatability issues.

Without detracting from the people who have gone those steps further than myself, i hope people picking up a super8 camera for the first time as i did, are not daunted or distracted for not knowing, or requiring all the info to match the best camera.

now the films are shot, i have freinds putting score to tape, this will take forever. good luck and see you again soon.

Mr. Blackstock, glad to hear from you. There are more Aussies out there. Time to try the good old search engine for the three main Film Forums on Hostboard.

Let us know what you find.

    What's next?

Did you know about our film co-op project?

I tried contacting Mr. Blackstock for an update, but the e-mail info is not working.
